Our Weekly Reflection-September 13-19

Here are some words to describe our week:

We learned more about:
-the store and how to draw a truck (Daniel)
-milk delivery (Brandon S.)
-how to become a knight in Medieval times (Kimmy)
-the Landlords in Medieval times (Chance)
-kids followed their dads footsteps in Medieval times (Brandon B.)
-how to draw using perspective (Evelyn)
-how to write number words (Jason)
-writing the date in numbers (Chance)
-more about August and his first day of school 
-delivering milk
-library rules and we each have a library bag to help keep our books looking new
-how to play soccer

Here are some things we are good at:
-looking at nice trucks
-drawing truck, faces
-driving video games

Welcome to our new school year 2014-2015!

Welcome back to a brand new school year!  We have had a wonderful start! 

Here are some words to describe our week:

Here is what we learned more about this week:

-soccer skills and how to dribble and kick the ball (Jason and Kimmy)
-Medival Times and that it is a time a very long time ago in Social Studies (Evelyn)
-reading and making words (Chance)
-writing the date using numbers (Brandon B)
-a new chapter book called Wonder (Lucas)
-using mathletics and raz-kids (Jason)


Here are some things we are good at:
-playing hockey (Brandon B)
-raising my hand and participating (Brandon, Evelyn, Chance, Kimmy, Lucas, Jason)
-writing the date using numbers
-participating in gym with our other class and our whole class
-making people happy
-listening to stories
-listening to our teachers
-scoring goals in gym

I need to work on:
-raising my hand more often
-my soccer skills
-reading more books
-complete more mathletics activities

A goal for next week is:
-give a compliment to one person each day
-read at home more
-use raz kids at home
- score a goal in gym class

What did we learn this week?

We learned...

-how to have fun on the slides at the barbeque (Neithen)

-how to do different types of skipping (Emma)

-to group coins together in groups of 25 cents or 10 cents (Brandon B.)

-that the play structures are going to be installed on Monday May 26 (Evelyn)

-that we have to plan ahead in order to  complete tasks like homework, putting in a play structure etc. (Emma)

-more about outer space (Neithen)

-that text/words underlined in red means it could be spelled wrong or the computer doesn't recognize it

-word family EE, the word glee means joy/happy (Emma)

-more about the word family ILL (Brandon, Jenna, Samantha)

-how to make groups of 10 (Brandon B and S)

-more about the talent show and that Andrew is really good at beat boxing

-responding to feedback by listening the first time to teachers (Neithen and Jason)

-resiliency- when something changes or a when there is a problem... we can handle it (Evelyn) like the Olympian Silken Laumen who had a very serious injury before the Olympics.   She didn't give up and she finished third and won a bronze medal.  

-when we are mad we can let it go and when we are sad it is hard to learn , so when we feel mad or sad we need to calm down and choose a strategy to help us feel better, then we can learn better (Evelyn and Samantha S)

-how to write a poem using our five senses, sight, hearing, taste, smell and feeling.  (Andrew, Kimmy, Neithen, and Emma)

We learned more about...

-using skip counting and the hundreds chart to help us count money (Neithen)

-Jump Rope for Heart (Emma)

-the swim meet (Brandon S.)

-how to race at the swim meet (Brandon B.)

-seeing Ainsley at the swim meet (Brandon S.)

-it is fun to try new things like the Jump rope for heart activities (Kimmy)

-a dog that almost attacked a boy riding his bike (Evelyn)

-water safety- never dive in shallow water

-always check with adult and lifeguard to see if water is deep enough to dive

-walk when you are around a pool

We learned more about...

-new word families - AY,  ENT, AG (Emma, Brandon B, Neithen, Chance)

-writing a DIAMANTE poem about ourselves (Neithen)

-what a snowy owl looks like (Samantha C)

-we got a new sign for our new name ST. John XXIII because Pope John XXIII was declared a saint on Sunday. (Samantha C)

-more about what birds look like

-being a responsible digital citizen and that we are not allowed using facebook, snapchat or instagram at school (Lucas)

-thinking that are parents are beside us when we are online

-listening to teachers and saying yes when we are asked to do something

-Jump Rope for Heart  (Emma)

-skipping- GREAT JOB EVERYONE and Congratulation to BRANDON B. for skipping in front of the whole school.  Way to go, Brandon.  That took a lot of courage.
