Our Grand Opening of our Schoolopoly Shop!

On Friday, September 23, we had our grand opening of our Schoolopoly Shop.  Everyone helped make signs and to sort store items so that we could open on time.  Way to go Team K!   It was great seeing so many happy customers using their hard earned schoolopoly money to buy items like gift certificates, toys and books.  It was another wonderful week.  Looking forward to another super week and wishing Kathryn a very happy birthday on Monday!

A Marvelous Monday...and the best is yet to come!

It was a beautiful sunny Monday morning and it was great to see everyone back from the weekend.    Thank you for your wonderful comment on our Blog Brianna.  I am very pleased to hear all your positive comments about our school year so far.  I am glad that Sara is enjoying her new school.   Please say hello to her for me.  Also, I was so happy and impressed to see Sarah, Victoria and Sam in their soccer equipment for tryouts this morning.  Way to go girls!  Thomas brought in his fortune and it said "Don't give up.  The best is yet to come."   Wow!  That is a really nice fortune.  This morning, we continued talking about recess expectations and our favourite activities.   Many students enjoy playing in the sandbox and playing basketball at recess.  In the afternoon, we worked on our daily math and practiced doing word problems.   When we work on math problems, we have problem solving steps to help us remember what to do...like writing a number sentence.   Our grade 6 team had an awesome gym class with Mr. S's class.  Mr. Officer had a lot of tickled pinks (positive feedback) for the group and I was so happy to hear that students using their leadership skills and being good sports by saying "Good game" to the other team.   Tomorrow it is the Grade 5 team's turn.  Remember...the best is yet to come.  Keep up the super work everyone!

An Amazing First Week!

Wow!  It is hard to believe that our first week of school is already over.  We had another successful day.   Our day began with a nice visit from Kathryn's wonderful mom and cool brother and friend for our morning informal open house.  We had a great gym class practicing soccer skills and it was exciting to hear that grade 5 and 6 girl's soccer try outs are starting.  Good luck to all the girls trying out.  We are very proud of you.   It was a beautiful sunny and wam day and a team of students built a really cool fort in the sand box.  It was really nice to see students laughing and having so much fun at recess.  Our goal is to have a safe and fun recess so that everyone is calm and ready to learn when recess is over.  We have been talking about what we need to see and hear to have a safe and fun recess.  Here's to an amazing first week...the beginning of many more to come!

Our Second Day of School

Today we met our new friend Tiffany.  We are so excited and happy to have her in our class.  We had our first welcome assembly in the gym.  Nicky and Brianna did an awesome job of introducing Tiffany to the whole school.  Tiffany showed a lot of confidence too by standing up in front of the whole school.   Our class did a very good job of keeping our eyes on the speaker and listening quietly during the assembly.  We are doing really well with our transitions.  We had a lot of fun pressing Mrs. R's Easy Button from Staples.  We are being great problem solvers with the shadows on the SMART board.  We all had a great laugh while trying to figure out the best place to stand.  We are looking forward to another successful day tomorrow!

Our First Day of School

Our first day of school was awesome! We had a great time meeting new friends and problem solving. Our classroom looked new and shiny...so did we!  We started our day doing our attendance on our new SMART board.  Mrs. Kirkham, Mr. Officer, Mr. Dawson and Mrs. Rombouts were very pleased with the active listening and participation from all the students.  Thomas and a group of students had a lot of fun playing soccer with Mr. Officer during afternoon recess.  Mr. Officer was the goalie.  We had a fantastic first day and we are looking forward to an even better second day of school.
